Valtellina is the kingdom of so-called extreme or heroic viticulture. At the mercy of terrains that are, to say the least, arduous and impervious to the convenience afforded by modern equipment (for obvious environmental reasons quite unusable here), their cultivation is only made possible thanks to the dogged efforts of the winegrowers and the vines themselves. In other words, an irresistible temptation for us Explorers. Those wondering what, apart from its extremism, is so special about the wild wine of the Alps evidently haven’t tasted it yet. Our suggestion is to do so without further delay.
